"FIRST RUN" is committed to the idea that the ultimate, hidden truth of the world is that it is something that we make, and could just as easily make differently. With this ethos in mind, "FIRST RUN" brings together design from Switzerland, internationally sourced textiles and artisan production from India in a celebratory synthesis of expressions and traditions.
"FIRST RUN's" singular vision hopes to bring attention to the critical need for respect for cultural diversity, global racial justice, and environmental sustainability. Perhaps no other fabric better exemplifies this proudly transnational, multicultural, and intersectional spirit than African Wax Textiles. First Run is not only a tribute to the myriad cultural practices and histories imbued in African Wax Textiles, but this production is also a love song to the profound contributions West African aesthetics have made on global culture and fashion.
By amplifying the voices and visions of overlooked communities from around the globe, "FIRST RUN" offers an alternate blueprint for the future—one that seeks to affirm social and racial justice as integral to the health of our global community.
“FIRST RUN” is the debut line of “Pikku Takki”. Our culturally rich African Wax textiles were internationally sourced in Kaduma, Paris and London. The clothing was designed in Switzerland, and uniquely handmade for you by a collective of artisans in New Dehli to last for life. Pikku Takki believes in social responsability and pays its workers fair wages. First run is currently being produced for its full run of 1105 pieces.
